# Polygon staking on Stader

**What is Stader?**

Stader is a non-custodial smart contract-based staking platform that helps you conveniently discover and access staking solutions. We are building key staking middleware infra for multiple PoS networks for retail crypto users, exchanges and custodians.

**Who is the team behind Stader?**

We are a young but experienced team, working together on a common goal: seamless staking solutions. Read more about us [here](https://twitter.com/stader_polygon/status/1512531278934945793).

# Stader for Polygon

**What is Stader building on Polygon?**

Stader’s staking solution for Polygon is MATICX, a liquid staking solution for MATIC. Stader lets users earn MATIC staking rewards and also enables users to participate in other Defi protocols using MaticX while accruing rewards.

Stader for Polygon gives you

* Liquidity through tokenization- Users can participate in Defi using the liquid token.
* Ease of staking - User-centric design of Dapp to make staking seamless for users

Learn more [here](https://blog.staderlabs.com/introducing-maticx-staders-liquid-staking-solution-coming-to-polygon-7f5cd646f46c).

**Does Stader have any experience with staking?**

We are a battle-tested team and have deployed smart contracts for staking on multiple blockchain platforms. You can read more about us on our website [here](https://staderlabs.com/).

**How does MATIC staking on Stader work?**

A MATIC token holder connects their wallet on the [Stader Dapp](https://polygon.staderlabs.com/) and deposits tokens with our smart contract. They immediately receive the MATICX tokens representing their staked assets. As rewards for staking are added , the value of MATICX increases w\.r.t MATIC.

# Staking

**Where can I stake my Matic with Stader?**

You can stake your Matic with Stader on both the Ethereum Network and on the Polygon Network. For more details on each see:

* [Staking on Ethereum Mainnet](/polygon-staking-on-stader/staking/staking-on-ethereum-mainnet)
* [Staking on Polygon Mainnet](/polygon-staking-on-stader/staking/staking-on-polygon-mainnet)

# Launch Phases

**Phase 1: Liquid staking for Matic on Ethereum Mainnet > 13th April**

We launched our liquid staking token, MaticX, for Matic staking on 13th April. In this first phase of launch, users were able to stake through the [Stader dApp](https://polygon.staderlabs.com/liquid-staking/maticx) on Ethereum Mainnet, where all native Matic staking happens today.

**Phase 2: Liquid staking for Matic on Polygon Mainnet > 2nd May**

From May 2nd, you can stake Matic and mint MaticX directly on Polygon Mainnet by visiting the Stader dApp We will start with a maximum staking capacity of \~1.5 million Matic per day at launch and expand this to support even larger delegations in Phase 3.

However, do remember, that in Phase 2 (which lasts just around 15 days till \~May 18) only staking will be available on the Polygon Mainnet. In order to unstake and withdraw your funds, you’ll need to use the Ethereum Mainnet.

**Phase 3: Unstaking your MaticX on Polygon > 18th May**

In Phase 3, which is expected to go live around May 18th, we’ll complete the full release of liquid staking on Polygon Mainnet. So, in addition to staking, you’ll also be able to unstake and withdraw funds directly on the Polygon Mainnet .

# Contract address

The MaticX address on Ethereum is [0xf03a7eb46d01d9ecaa104558c732cf82f6b6b645](https://etherscan.io/address/0xf03a7eb46d01d9ecaa104558c732cf82f6b6b645)

The MaticX address on Polygon is [0xfa68fb4628dff1028cfec22b4162fccd0d45efb6](https://polygonscan.com/address/0xfa68fb4628dff1028cfec22b4162fccd0d45efb6)

# MATICX

**What is MATICX?**

MATICX is a token that represents your share of the total MATIC pool deposited with Stader. As soon as you deposit MATIC on the Stader smart contract, you receive newly minted MATICX, based on the exchange rate at the time of staking. As the MATIC rewards get added the value of MATICX increases (w\.r.t MATIC) To illustrate the above explanation, [here](https://twitter.com/stader_polygon/status/1513859161779433479) is a video.

**What is the MATICX exchange rate and how does it change?**

The exchange rate represents the total value of the Stake Pool for every MATICX in circulation

![](https://256609312-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtKgCo6boWvlbJqXkSEAo%2Fuploads%2Fb4zlKecvIB4PLqRo0VHz%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=aaa6102f-62b7-4c71-a1ca-c0db78b7f624)

At launch, the MATICX exchange rate is initialized to 1. When rewards are added to the pool, the MATICX: MATIC exchange rate will increase.

![](https://256609312-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtKgCo6boWvlbJqXkSEAo%2Fuploads%2F75Zm1jXgqLVOsl7NFNq4%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=df6585cf-cc58-423c-a83b-07a434b21cd9)

**How many MATICX will I get after staking MATIC?**

You will receive MATICX tokens equal to the amount of MATIC staked divided by the exchange rate.

**Is the MATICX token automatically associated?** \
Yes, the Stader smart contracts associate MATICX with the user wallet, whenever staking occurs.

**Where can I use MATICX?**

You can read about the mechanics of MaticX in our explainer [**here**](https://medium.com/staderlabs/introducing-maticx-staders-liquid-staking-solution-coming-to-polygon-7f5cd646f46c).

We have worked on an extensive list of partnerships which will support MaticX. The spectrum of partners will include DEXs, yield farming, lending/borrowing and more. The following list of partners are live or will go live over the coming week(s):

* MaticX Liquidity Pools on [**Quickswap (live)**](https://quickswap.exchange/#/add/0x0d500b1d8e8ef31e21c99d1db9a6444d3adf1270/0xfa68fb4628dff1028cfec22b4162fccd0d45efb6), Balancer (coming soon)
* MaticX yield farming on [**Beefy finance (live)**](https://app.beefy.finance/#/polygon/vault/quick-wmatic-maticx), Autofarm (coming soon)
* MaticX lending/borrowing on Market.xyz (coming soon), QiDao (coming soon)
* Many more to come!

# Bridging

You can bridge tokens between Ethereum and Polygon using Polygon's native PoS bridge. Before you can bridge MaticX in either direction, you need to first ensure that you [have added MaticX to your tokens list](/polygon-staking-on-stader/bridging/add-maticx-to-your-tokens-list).

* To bridge from Ethereum to Polygon, see [here](/polygon-staking-on-stader/bridging/bridge-maticx-from-ethereum-to-polygon)

# Wallets

**Which Wallets does Stader Support?**

We will be launching with support for Metamask wallet, Wallet Connect and Coinbase Wallet. Wallet Connect gives you multiple wallet options to connect from. We also constantly work with other wallet providers to increase the choices for our users.

# Stader Dapp

**How can I enter the amount of MATIC to Stake?**

You can manually enter the amount of MATIC you would like to stake in the field provided. Please note that you must have enough eth in balance to pay for the transaction

**How is the MATICX output amount calculated?**

The output MATICX is calculated as the MATIC amount entered in the input field multiplied by the current exchange rate.

**What is the APY seen on the Stader Dapp?**

The APY shown on the Stader Dapp is the annualized rate of rewards available via staking MATIC tokens after adjusting for Stader Commission (10%) and daily autocomounding of rewards. This rate is subject to variance based on Polygon blockchain and can vary slightly from checkpoint to checkpoint.

**Why can't I enter an amount to be staked?**

If this is your first time staking Matic with Stader, you will need to go through an additional step of approving before you can start. Once you approve, you will be able to enter an amount to be staked.

# Rewards and Earnings

**How are rewards accumulated into MATICX?**

Native rewards on staking Matic are calculated basis [this](https://wallet.polygon.technology/staking/rewards-calculator) rewards calculator on the Polygon website. Stader smart contracts accumulate the rewards offered natively from the staked MATIC & restake them into the smart contract once a day increasing the MATICX exchange rate. New MATICX tokens are only minted when a user deposits equivalent amount of MATIC into our smart contract.

**How can I calculate my earnings?**

When MATICX is multiplied by the exchange rate, it gives the current worth of MATIC. If you subtract the original MATIC amount invested from this, you get your earnings.

**Is Stader going to integrate with DeFi platforms?**

We are working on integrations with various yield aggregators, lending protocols etc for MATICX.

# Fees

**Transaction Fees**

Currently all staking on Polygon happens on the Ethereum Mainnet. Thus the transaction fees for staking varies with the prevailing Gas Fees on Ethereum at that time. In order to help users reduce gas fees, we’re working on a staking solution for the Polygon Mainnet in v2

**Deposit Fees**

Stader doesn't levy any charge to users on Deposits/Staking\
\
**Rewards Fee** \
Stader will charge a protocol fee of 10% of the rewards added to the contract. We use it for upgrading our infrastructure to develop quality products for our users.\
Treasury for Polygon MaticX is a multi-sig ([0x80A43dd35382C4919991C5Bca7f46Dd24Fde4C67](https://gnosis-safe.io/app/eth:0x80A43dd35382C4919991C5Bca7f46Dd24Fde4C67)) with 2 threshold signatures on 3 signers completely owned by Stader.

# Security

**How is Stader secure?**

Stader is a secure liquid staking solution

* Continuous review and testing of all code
* Regular audits of smart contract
* Use of Multi-sig admin accounts for changing smart contract parameters.

**What are the risks of staking with Stader?**

There exist a number of potential risks when staking MATIC using liquid staking protocols.

* Smart contract risk:

Although the Stader code is thoroughly vetted and audited there exists a possibility of malicious users exploiting a vulnerability or a bug in the contract or the Polygon platform
* Wallet and downstream apps\
Wallets and third party apps may have to be used to access staking, users should evaluate the security of the wallets and other third party apps independently, Stader does not hold any responsibility for the security of the wallets or third party applications used in staking.platform

The Stader team is committed to delivering the best and more secure staking experience for users.

**Does Stader have smart contract audits?**

The Polygon smart contracts developed by Stader have been audited by Immunebytes and Halborn

**What does the Stader contract admin control?**

Stader's contracts for MaticX are controlled by a multi-sig account (0x91B4139A2FAeaCD4CdbFc3F7B1663F91a54be237) managed by the following parties. The confirmation count is 3 out of 5 signatures required\
\
Key 1 - Stader (Dheeraj)\
Key 2 - Stader (Sid)\
Key 3 - Community (DefiDad)\
Key 4 - Accel Partners\
Key 5 .- Polygon Foundation (Aishwary)\
\
Stader also maintains a similar structure across its other liquid staking products because this structure ensures a good midway between effective but slow community based governance and quick but centralized EOA holder(s). \
\
The responsibilities of the above multi-sig are as follows:\
\- setBotRoleAdmin (Admin for off-chain bots to update the exchange rate of MaticX periodically)\
\- setFeePercent (Set the Stader's commission of the staking rewards. Set to 10% currently)\
\- setInstantPoolOwner (Set to Stader's instant pool owner to offer MaticX at a cheaper gas fee)\
\- setValidatorRegistry (set the address to point to the contract wrapper for validator operations)\
\- setFxStateRootTunnel (set the Polygon root tunnel used for communication of exchange rate of MaticX <> Matic from Ethereum onto Polygon)\
\- setVersion (used for marking a version of code)\
\- PauseContract (pause deposits, withdrawals, claims. Only meant to be used in critical situations)\
\- Upgrade Contracts (Only meant to be used in critical bug fixes)
